I've found that people like hearing about how a particular story was thought of or put together, and as an author, I can tell you that I enjoy telling about my stories very much.

This is part of the "Story Backgrounds" portion of my archive, where I attempt to say something about each and every story I write. This is the "Earth: Final Conflict" section of that page.

DeeDee's New Life:
This was written at the last moment, to substitute for a story that got lost somewhere on a hard drive (the story in question has yet to be found and/or rewritten). "Sandoval's Run" is my favorite episode, and the first full one I saw, so naturally when I needed something to write about, my thoughts turned towards poor DeeDee. It's not the best thing I've ever written, but it's not terrible, either, for a rush job.

Tan Mark:
Another last-minute piece, so that I'd have an E:FC drabble to go with the rest of the drabbles. This isn't my favourite of the drabbles- for one thing, I've never seen "Decision", "Truth" or "Avatar" so I feel rather awkward writing anything set around then like this thing is. (The other thing is that I don't do well with drabbles, period.)

New World, Still Hiding and sequels (New World, Close Encounter, and New World, Ghostly Visitation):
I wanted to write a short piece on how the TP were likely to react to the coming of the Companions. It came out as "New World, Still Hiding", a story of how good things might not be all good. Later, someone asked me to write a sequel to that, where Jade met Boone. Like the first story, it didn't come out how I expected. I am now working on a far different version. The third, "New World, Ghostly Visitations", was another rush job, but I did manage to get in the fact that Jade had come to care for her mysterious friend. (There is a fourth in this series, "New World, First Encounter", where Jade and Boone meet in the flesh, but it's not ready yet.)

The Loss of The Man I decided that I wanted to write a trilogy of vignettes set around "Sandoval's Run" and DeeDee Sandoval, starting with a vignette set in the hotel room after the Sandovals escaped, following with the scene in the Liberation room and the medical facility, and finishing with "DeeDee's New Life". This is the second story in that bunch. I still have the dialogue written down for the first story, and so might write it sometime.
